REPORT ON NOTTS MENS & SENIOR MATCHPLAY 2022.
MENS
County Amateur and Open Champion Mark Porter got proceedings underway with a convincing win over George Constance 5/4. There were wins for Cole Betteridge, Jake Benson, Jordan Boulton, Oscar Bartram, Ashley Norwood, Scott Krokosynzski and Cameron Steedman.
The quarter finals saw Porter take on his club teammate Cole Betteridge, some high-quality golf took place with Betteridge prevailing 4/3 over Porter.
Jordan Boulton got the better of Jake Benson 2/1, and there were further wins for Ashley Norwood and Scott Krokosynzski setting up two very high-quality semi-finals.
Betteridge v Boulton - a high quality match resulting a win for Boulton 3/1. In the other semi final between Norwood and Krok another high-quality match Ashley Norwood provided to set up a final.
The final got underway, and Norwood established an early lead with a birdie at the 4th. Both birded 5, but 3 loose holes on the trot from Norwood resulted from being 1 up to 2 down. Boulton continued to play solid golf and further increased his lead to 4 up.
Both players played indifferent shots into the par3 15th resulting in a half in 4 and a victory for Boulton.

SENIORS
A field of Nottinghamshire's finest Senior golfers contested the Senior Matchplay.
County Senior's champion Charles Banks played in the opening match against Sherwood Forest's Dave Richardson. Banks prevailed 6/4. Other 1st round winners were, Graeme Macdonald, Chris Powell (WO) Chris Singleton, Steve Hogg, Steve Fretwell. Ian Lindley and Tim Clarke.
In the quarter finals Banks overcame Macdonald 3/2, Powell beat Singleton 3/2 Fretwell beat Hogg 3/1 and Lindley beat Clarke 3/2
In the semi finals Charles banks beat Chris Powell 3/2 and Steve Fretwell beat Iain Lindley 4/3 to set up the final between Charles banks v Steve Fretwell.
Both golfers played solid golf considering what a long weekend it is. And despite being a very close match Steve triumphed 2/1
Congrats to Steve on his first County win.
