6 MAN TEAM REPORT
The 6 man team was hosted at Belton Park GC. The course was in fantastic condition and everybody who worked there was fantastic. We went there with high hopes of being in the mix on the back 9 in the second round, but to be totally honest we never stood a real chance after the first round. This wasn't that we played poorly but it was down to an outstanding score posted by Lincolnshire, the condition's In which they shot a team score of 8 under was nothing short of brilliant.
The weather was stormy in the morning, it was blowing 30mph constant and gust up to 50mph with the occasional heavy downpour, we had to wait on one occasion 20mins for the greens to be squeegeed. We shot a average score of 6 over total in the morning which put us in 3rd place and Derbyshire were in second on level par, Matt Hogg and Jack Sallis were our top performers in the morning both shooting 1 under par, these score‘s were outstanding in those conditions, Cole was 2 over, Mark, Killian and George were 3 over.
Round 2 was even more testing as the wind increased in strength to the point it could have easily have been suspended, balls were moving on the greens and the gusts were insane at times, but that said if there was ever a time a team could have given up a lead of 8 this was it, but not Lincolnshire they were magnificent. They only dropped 4 shots in those conditions in the afternoon!
We, like all the other teams struggled and in the end Lincolnshire won by 15 shots. Again our best players were Jack Sallis and Matt Hogg, Jack shooting level par for the day and Matt 3 over for the day.
I can honestly say everyone in our team gave 110%, they never gave up and again were a credit to our union of clubs and myself. Jack came 8th overall in the individual with level par, Matt came 15th the winner finishing on a superb -2. We as a team came 6th out of 10, I can honestly say we gave it our all but all the credit has to go to Lincolnshire on a fantastic performance, nobody saw their score of -4 on a Day like that!!!
